Gulf States Dive and Rescue was specifically created for the reason of reducing the burden of government and saving lives without bias.

We promote the protection of life, property and commerce by providing organization, leadership, trained manpower, equipment, water safety education and emergency assistance or mutual aid.

We provide this to individuals as well as local, state and federal authorities that do not have those assets within their own emergency response system.

In New Orleans, LA., Dive and Rescue Educators Inc. and the not for profit it founded, Gulf States Dive and Rescue 501(c)(3), has worked side by side with parish and state agencies for several years. DIVEANDRESCUE.ORG (the two agencies, collectively) has a long and successful history in the New Orleans area. Just in 2011, Dive and Rescue has provided trained and certified VOLUNTEERS to local public safety agencies on several occasions.

In January 2011 our PS Dive team helped clear Lake Pontchartrain of 38 targets deemed a hazard. In March we worked side by side with the New Orleans Harbor Police to look for Jim Dugan when a wharf along the Mississippi River collapsed. In April our divers and sonar equipment were the first resources in the water for the New Orleans Fire Dept. looking for Aaronne Mitchell and Aaronne Russell when they drowned in Lake Pontchartrain. In May we were on stand-by for the State Fire Marshall’s Office for the rising Mississippi River. In July, during the search for 12 year old Samantha Vinturella, we volunteered assistance in the form of boat teams and trained public safety divers after she was involved in a boating accident in St. Bernard Parish. Hurricane response includes a VOLUNTEER team with the New Orleans Fire Dept. during Hurricane Gustave, Ike (2008) & Katrina (2005).

Our PARTNERSHIP with the area has yielded over 12 Volunteer missions since 1994 with 10 since 2008, including the successful search and recovery of United States Naval Aviator Lt. Clinton Wermers that crashed in 2010. Our team is highly skilled, well equipped, certified internationally in our specialties and our team is highly motivated to make a difference. Team members are Fire, EMS or L.E. back ground. We believe in the Public/Private Partnership and believe it can make a difference.
